SYNOPSIS

Luella is a young African woman who lives in the present world where she cannot express her love for Drag through her identity, due to her confirmative mother. Her love for writing has led her to express a world where she imagines a future of freedom to express herself without judgement nor conviction. In the hardship of lockdown, Luella begins to document her journey by writing and explaining this futuristic world/home that liberates people of colour and self-acceptance of one’s identity. She draws her inspiration from her favourite drag queen, Shea Butter, which is presented as a mother figure in this novel. However, Luella is still stuck in this world and deeply affected by her abusive past which leads her to almost give up on this story, until she receives a message from Shea Butter.
